The Specialist
Well, for this evening's bottle feeding they brought in the big guns:someone from the speech & oral development department. Apparently they are the bottle feeding gurus. The therapist determined that even with the low-flow nipple, Sophie was getting too much milk to swallow.
So they mixed in some thickening agent. This seemed to help a good bit. She was able to take about half the bottle before she got tired--and that's after wasting energy during all the experimentation beforehand! So we're encouraged by this, but of course it's only one feeding.
Current weight is now 4lb8oz. Also, Sophie now has a semi-private room. Due to overcrowding, they moved her to some Isolation room that is not being used right now. She has a roommate, but for once it is a quiet neighbor. Yay!

What good news that they found something that works. Now if it works again for the next few days you have really found a solution. I am so glad they brought in a specialist. Speech Therapists can do amazing things. Monica
