off the vent

The doctor just took Sophie off the vent again. When we got here this
morning, they'd turned the vent down to 12b/min. An hour or so ago
they went to 6 and she was still testing well. They had also taken
her off the sedative at 6am and wrapped her up real tight to keep her
from pulling on the tube.

So they extubate and so far she's looking good they say. She had the
hiccups again after that, but that's not unusual. They'll do another
blood gas soon and then it will be up to her.

Sounds good. Have feeds been resumed?

Not yet, possibly later tonight. Most likely tomorrow. Once they're confident she's breathing well, she'll go back over to the NICU. Then she can start packing on the grams.

That sounds like good news about Sophie. She's a beautiful little girl. I'm sure it will be just a matter of time before she's sitting on the couch watching the Spurs with Daddy.

Your whole family is in our prayers. Sophie is such a blessing and I'm sure it will be no time before you get to bring her home!
