rite of passage
Today, Sophie got to perform a sacred duty that children going back at least 2, maybe 3 generations have had to do: holding the flashlight. I'd like to say that it was some huge payoff for all the years of parenting, but it really wasn't.
I was replacing the handle in the dishwasher and turned out the breakers to cut power to it (and the kitchen lights), so I had her hold a little Mag-Lite flashlight. But she apparently needs more practice aiming flashlights and also got bored after about 3 turns of the screwdriver.
Anyway, it's a start and not something I'm going to give up on.
