Stephanie update
I guess there's a little room here for an update on the new mother, as well.
Stephanie went for her followup appointment today and things are looking good. Her blood pressure is still a little high, which they told us would be the last thing to correct itself after delivery, so her doctor prescribed some meds to help lower it for a while until it gets back to normal. Also, they're doing some followup blood tests to make sure her platelets and liver enzyme levels are getting back to normal.
The doctor also stressed that this is a full 6 week recovery, but it is common to feel back to normal after 3 weeks and start doing too much and wind up back in the hospital. Right now, she is not even to that point. Part of it is the lack sleep, I'm sure, but going to the NICU to visit the baby is about all she can manage in a day. This is difficult for her, as usually she's doing stuff and is not much of a lounger. It is hard work for her to rest, as strange as that sounds.
But she does check her emails and has really enjoyed all the messages and comments from friends, family, and co-workers. So thank you.

Glad things are going well. I love this web site! I really enjoy catching up on Sophie's progress every day. Stephanie, I feel your pain! I didn't rest as much after Thomas and Sarah were born, especially after about two weeks when I started feeling better and both times I slid backwards very quickly in my recovery. The doctors are serious when they say that they will put you back into the hospital and force the rest. It really does take the full 6 weeks to recover. But you will be amazed after 6 weeks how different you feel! We have lots of family and friends praying for all of you. Please let us know if we can help in any way!
