Relaxing

Stephanie had the day off today (since yesterday was tax day, her company gives everyone the day after off). We had this big list of things we wanted to do, but started off by sleeping in until almost 11am. After lunch, we took Sophie on a family outing to the grocery store. She is going to have to accept the fact that her parents are closet-hippies: we shop at Whole Foods and drive a car powered by soybeans. Anyway, we managed to figure out how the carrier will actually fit on a shopping cart. Sophie really seemed to enjoy looking around. Her favorite past-time right now is looking at light fixtures and windows, so I guess maybe she enjoyed getting to check that out. Plus, it's hot and cold in different parts of the store, so I bet she noticed that. She was good the whole time, just let out a little cry or two in the checkout line.

She also got to enjoy a little more time without her harness. Starting today, she gets to be out of it for 8 hours instead of 4. So that is good for her. She gets to stretch out a lot, but she is harder to hold onto when she's not wearing the brace, plus she squirms all over after we take it off. It also necessitates changes of clothes because she wears newborn stuff to give her room for the harness and the way it holds her legs, but without it on we put her back in preemie sizes. It is still kinda weird changing diapers without the harness on. It's a couple extra steps to get the diaper tabs under the straps that hold her legs up, but it's just normal to us. Without it seems so simple that it feels like you're forgetting something. Anyway, starting next Wednesday, she gets to be out of it for 12hrs. Yay!
