Chunky

Well, we went to the G.I. Doctor today, and Sophie weighed in at 10lbs
2oz! She is now more than 3x her birth weight and is 22" long. The
doctor thought this was good, but not great, and bumped her # of
calories up by ~10%

As far as her reflux, not much they can do. She needs to get bigger
and let her digestive system mature. He did say that by 1yr, 90% of
babies outgrow reflux. So that gives us hope.

The other good news is that he referred us to a special program at
Baylor Hospital in Dallas to help with her "oral aversion" problem
(not wanting to take the bottle). When the reflux started, it hurt
her to eat and she would cry after swallowing, since the acid would
burn her throat. She learned to associate eating with pain and won't
do it anymore. So these people are experts at re-training her to eat.
We are very excited about this, as it's been frustrating and sad to
think that maybe she would lose those skills. This is the part they
don't tell you about with the feeding tube procedure.

Anyway, we don't have to go back to GI for 3 months and we now have
someone else to help us. And we have no other doctor visits until July
22--a whole month off!
