small breakthrough
Sophie seems to have taken her game up a level when it comes to drinking. Last Wednesday her therapist told me that she took more juice than she usually does. And when we got home, she kept doing the same thing. Before she was taking lots of little bird sips, but now she will take some really big drinks, especially when you first sit down with her for the meal. We've found that if you just leave the straw in her mouth, she will keep working on it now. This is great because the drinks we give her have just as many calories as her food, so it's the same as eating more. This means we've been able to cut back a little on the night time tube feedings a little.
I checked our spreadsheet, and over the last couple of months, she's averaged 34mL of drinks at each meal. That's just over an ounce. Since last Wednesday, she's averaged 48mL, a 40% increase. Yay, Sophie!
