late-night visit

Last night after I took some pictures of the total lunar eclipse, I
went back up to the hospital. Sophie had just had her spongebath and
looked so cute with her hair all clean and fluffy. She looked wide
awake and hungry. But as soon as she tried to eat, she would just
start crying without taking any. The nurse suspected gas and tummy
pains.  We spent a lot of time bouncing, rubbing, and patting her.

It took a while, but we got her feeling better and she took almost
30mL, which maybe 5-10 was spilled. This is still pretty good. The
other thing I've noticed during both the sessions yesterday was that
we went a little longer than a half hour, but she did not fall right
to sleep afterward. In fact, she's stayed up for more than an hour
after. When we first started with the bottle, it wasn't uncommon for
her to literally fall asleep sitting up after working for just a few
minutes. To me, this is not pointing toward it being a fatigue issue.

Friday she's supposed to get another visit from the orthopedist. They
wil hopefully bring her another harness so that she can have one to
wear while they clean the other. You would think this would be a
standard thing, since it's a little hard to keep clean, but no, we had to request it.  Kinda like you would think that they would have a protocol for weighing babies that are in this brace.  Not really, unless the doctor writes an order for it.  Even then, some of the nurses don't catch it.  But after a few days of confusion, I think we finally got that figured out.  Now they just weigh her in the harness each time and record the total weight.  The important thing is to track the progress and gains.

So her current weight is 2325 grams, or 5lbs 2oz.  The harness we think weighs about 2-3 ounces, so she is likely approaching 5 pounds.  The doctors did increase her diuretic on Tuesday, so she may have been retaining some more fluid, but this new dosage should stabilize and we'll know soon how she's doing.
