sophie-o-lantern
Here are pictures of Sophie in her Halloween outfit. And to go along with it, I'm trying to post a Sophie Monster sound This is the best one I've managed to record so far. She will be going along just squeaking and making sweet little noises, then start doing these crazy little growls, then go right back to baby noises again.
This morning Sophie had a great time hanging out with her Mimi, and this afternoon my mom showed up and has been playing with her. Also, this evening Stephanie gave Sophie some sweet potatoes to play with (the speech therapist said we should put foods in front of her and let her smush and feel them, just so she gets used to food without anyone forcing her to do anything). Well, tonight we think she was actually eating! She definitely was picking them up and cramming her fingers in her mouth and I didn't see any come back out and she didn't spit anything up. Last night Stephanie said she saw her putting mashed potatoes in her mouth, but tonight there was definite intention. This is really exciting for us. I don't want to get my hopes up, but maybe we're not looking at years of therapy here. Let's cross our fingers.
Well, tomorrow we have to be at the hospital bright and early. I'll try and post updates throughout the day, but Friday when we were there for pre-op I was having problems with the wifi. But I will try to post from the library there if I have to--at least once to let everyone know how the surgery went.
