Over the Hump
I think we're over the hump with therapy. Sophie still cries sometimes, but she's doing much better. We're already seeing some increase in the amount of food she'll take and a huge increase in the amount of liquids she'll swallow.
It's been nice to chat with the other parents in the program. The common trend seems to be that you get the g-button so they'll let you out of the NICU. Then you see developmental problems with feeding that weren't really discussed by the doctors recommending the button. I suppose the g-button was still the best choice, but it would have been nice to know the downside up front so we could more effectively deal with it.
This program is another reminder of how lucky we are. The other two kids are both 2 1/2 and have more severe health issues. Sophie is farther along developmentally than both of them, including with eating. We've got a lot to be thankful for.
