Therapy Day 1 - Stephanie's Post
To add a couple of items to Brian's post.
Benchmark: During the 4 feedings on the first day, Sophie ate close to 1 ounce of baby food at each feed. The first feed was stage 1 applesauce. The last three feeds were stage 2 sweet potatoes. They will be measuring her intake to track her progress. To get some feel for how far we've come so far, 1 ounce is 100% more than she would take about a month ago.
Other comments:
- The facilities are awesome! We've got a small room for naps/alone time. It's very small and next to the break room, but it's still a huge luxury.
- The play room has every kind of toy imaginable, organized in genres. Sophie was in hog heaven. There's also an outdoor playground that's suitable for tiny ones. It was her first playground experience and she had a blast.
- There is some opportunity to play with other children, but it appears to be pretty limited. There are only 3 kids in the program at a time with rotating therapy schedules.
- Much of the therapy is based on behavioral rewards. One of the rewards they use is kiddie videos. She's totally mesmerized. We don't let her watch any TV at home and we certainly don't want to have to feed her with the TV on. This was our only conflict with the program so far.
