followup

Well, Sophie seems to be back to normal today. She was very droopy last night, but seemed to perk up a little bit after she ate and drank some. The new button is going to take a little getting used to. It is bigger, so we're a little concerned about that (she sleeps on her tummy a lot, for one thing, so that can't be comfy). But so far it seems to stay shut, so that's a big plus. The connector tubes lock in and are great, but they are difficult to snap in place. You have to hold the button firmly to press them in, and this is hard to do when she's fussing and wiggling. But she is probably still sore from getting the new one, so hopefully she'll accept this more as she feels better. It is so nice, though to not have to leave the tube connected to her and be able to go out and not worry about it coming open, leaking, staining her clothes, getting raw and irritated, etc.

Speaking of getting out, last week we started Sophie in a parents' day out program one day a week. I guess it's similar to daycare, but it's only from 9am-2pm (and 2 hours of that is lunch/naptime). She had a good time and the "teachers" said she adapted very well (the rest of the class started together in September), but she is not very shy and has no problem making herself at home. Of course, her favorite thing was playing outside (one of the deciding factors on which program to put her in was the awesome playground this church has). She wasn't going to fall for laying down on a mat and taking a nap, though, so they had to rock her to sleep. But that's one of the things we're hoping she'll learn from seeing other kids doing. That and eating snacks and lunch. Watching other kids eat stuff might make her want to do more. Also, she gets some socialization and a structured setting. Last, but not least, it gets her out of my hair for a few hours a week! Actually, last week was a little weird not having her around, but I think we'll both get used to it pretty quick.
