Self-care
So, we are trying to work on getting Sophie to do more self-care. Things like dressing herself, cleaning her own face, spoon feeding, etc. It's not easy going. Not that she doesn't get the idea or seem to know how to do it, but I think just that she's two and her favorite thing to tell us is "No," which she learned the sign for real quick, but "yes" took a while longer.
Especially putting on shoes and clothes are an ordeal sometimes. There's usually yelling and tears (sometimes by Sophie), attempts at negotiating and bribery, and sometimes plain old force comes into play.
Eating is also becoming more of a challenge in this way. In the past, we could just plop her in her seat and shovel food in. Now we want her to do it. She is getting good at the mechanics, but finishing a whole meal with her spoon is not so easy. We just keep telling ourselves that all this is an investment in the future.
