Really, school district?

Today we got a notice in the mail about registration for school for the fall.

Dear Parent,


Your child, Slopie Dxxxx, will be attending for the 2012-13 school year...

What?  Slopie?  Seriously, this is what was printed on the form and hand-written on the envelope.  I could see if it was Sophia, or even Sofi, or something halfway close, but Slopie?  I try really hard to fight my bias against and disdain for the public school system, but things like this just rub me the wrong way.  


I called the secretary to the Director of the Department and said that I just wanted to see if it was wrong in the system, or if it was just a typo?  The implication being, either way, this is dumb.  She apologized and said she would look into it.
