few minor blog changes and Peter has a blog
In case you hadn't noticed, I made a few minor updates to Sophie's blog.
- There's a link to subscribe to posts. Click on this and it will take you to a page called "Feedburner" that asks for an email address. On days there's a new post(s), you will receive the post in an email. For some, this might be easier than coming back to the website every so often.
- Peter has his own blog! It is http://peterjounal.blogspot.com/ If you click 2 "recent posts from Peter's Journal" you will be taken to his blog.
- click on any of the headlines to see recent posts from Peter's Journal
- ditto
Likewise, on Peter's blog, there's a "subscribe by email" option. It also shows headlines for recent posts on Sophie's journal.
The reason for 2 different journals is frankly poor planning on my part. When Sophie was born and we started her website to keep everyone up to date on what was going on with her, I totally didn't plan for expandability for if/when there was another kid. As a computer scientist, this lack of flexibility embarrasses me. After Peter was born, Stephanie and I discussed how to go forward: one blog per kid, new blog for the whole family, move to a new website, & other things. For now, we decided the easiest thing to do was make a new journal for Peter. The kids and their development are distinct enough that they each deserve their own posts. We may have to duplicate holiday or vacation photos, but that's not often yet. As they get older and do things together, we might move to one website for the whole family.
Hopefully, each blog having links to posts from the other makes it a little easier. You don't have to go to each blog to see posts on both. Or just sign up for email updates on each one, and you don't have to go to either.
