State Fair

On Tuesday, Stephanie and I took Sophie to the State Fair of Texas.  This was the second time she's been.  Going on a weekday was the best thing ever.  We went through two little kid barn exhibits & petting zoos that we couldn't get in last time because the line was down the block and around the corner.  On a Tuesday, you just walk right up and go in.  We also did the "Backyard Circus", where they pick a bunch of kids out of the crowd to participate.  Sophie got to be one of the Butterfly Ballerinas, and she loved it.

Squealing with excitement.

The Ringmaster!

After that we got some food and cotton candy (Sophie's favorite thing of the whole day, she said later).  We wandered through the anniversary of the Girl Scouts exhibit and the car show, both of which she was more interested in that I would have imagined.

But the coup de gras was the Midway and the land of little kid rides.  I'm not sure if the cotton candy or the rides had her more hopped up, but she was so nuts that after a ride ended she'd try to get right back on and the workers would have to shoo her to the exit.  Then she'd slip out of my grasp and try to run to the next thing she saw.  She did some pirate ship obstacle course thing twice in a row (and once again later) and I had to pick her up and hold her a while to calm her down.  Her heart was racing like a scared rabbit.  But she did good when it was time to go, there wasn't a meltdown, so that was a relief.

She would do pretty much any ride they have, but some she was too short for and some I had to ride with her.  I see many more fair/amusement park visits in our future.
